- About Us
Generation BALT is a cooperation of 18 partners: universities and maritime business associations from Germany, Poland, Sweden, Lithuania and the Kaliningrad Oblast.
Our goal is to boost the South Baltic maritime economy by match-making between high-profile job-seekers and employers in the maritime-related professions. In the long term, our partner universities want to be able to better adapt their curricula to the changes in the labour market.
Our foresight study of the maritime job market and our analysis of the current educational offers will identify maritime sectors with the biggest potential for growth (demand for labour force) and those with the largest number of graduates (supply of labour force) in the region.
Subsequently, a supplementary study programme will be designed around the maritime sectors with largest development potential identified in the foresight study. Target groups will be skilled and ambitious last-grade students and unemployed graduates of sea-related studies. Through intensive match-making activities, participants will have a chance to meet potential employers, arrange internships and possibly jobs.
The programme will mark the birth of an international elite, a new generation of Baltic Sea professionals: engineers, lawyers, economists and scientists who contribute to the Region’s economy not only with their excellent skills, but also through their holistic understanding of the Baltic Sea, its problems and socio-economic and natural interdependencies.
The pilot phase (July 2011 - June 2014) will be co-financed by the EU South Baltic Programme. In the long term, the programme will be continued by an association of current and future partners.
